PRINCE2 is an increasingly popular and is now a de facto standard for project management in the United Kingdom. The use of PRINCE2 training has now spread beyond the UK to more than 50 other countries.

The methodology of PRINCE2 is a process-based approach for project management. PRINCE2 provides customisable and scalable methodology for the management of all projects in widely differing sectors.

PRINCE2 has been updated for 2009, the first update since 2005. The PRINCE2: 2009 refresh project was overseen by the Office of Government Commerce. For more information, please visit link at the top of this page.

The full PRINCE2 Training course is a 5 day event. The PRINCE2 course is traditionally 5 days due to market forces as more businesses prefer the complete the course within a week. However, the course can be extended to beyond 5 days. These types of extended courses are normally only available as private events, not on public schedules.

5 day PRINCE2 Course Structure

The 5 day PRINCE2 course consists of 3 parts:

• 3 day PRINCE2 Foundation (Monday - Wednesday)
• 2 day PRINCE2 Conversion (Thursday & Friday)

Or

• Full 5 day PRINCE2 Practitioner* (Monday - Friday)

  *This course is the Foundation + Conversion course and is sold together and called a PRINCE2 Practitioner, normally for a discounted price than if you purchased both separately.

You can chose to book both parts of the course or just one. It should be remembered that in order to attend the 2 day PRINCE2 Conversion, you must have passed PRINCE2 Foundation examination.

If you attend the 5 day course, your PRINCE2 Foundation examination is taken by you and then marked by your APM accredited PRINCE2 instructor. You will receive your result shortly afterwards. You must pass this exam to progress to Thursday; though as Foundation examination passes with Earlyprince2.co.uk stand at 100%, you should have no problems.

PRINCE2 Examinations

The PRINCE2 course is designed to help you to understand the methodology and pass PRINCE2 examination. When you book your course with Earlyprince2.co.uk, you will receive your Pre Course Reading. It is essential you complete the Pre Course Reading prior to attending the course to enable to take maximum benefit from the instructor led portion of the course.

There are 2 PRINCE2 examinations:

• PRINCE2 Foundation Examination (Wednesday afternoon)
• PRINCE2 Conversion / Practitioner Examination (Friday morning)

PRINCE2 Foundation examination 2009 version

• 1 hour
• 75 questions including 5 practice questions
• Multiple Choice
• Closed Book

The pass mark is 50% or 35 correct questions.

PRINCE2 Conversion or Practitioner examination 2009 version

The PRINCE2 Conversion or PRINCE2 Practitioner examination was changed from an essay type examination to an Objective Testing examination in January 2008. The marking scheme is simplified.

• 2.5 hours
• Objective Test
• 108 possible marks
• Open book (PRINCE2 manual only)

The PRINCE2 Conversion or PRINCE2 Practitioner pass mark is 55% or 59 correct answers from 108.
